REVIEW – The Advertiser: “Next level fun for all ages”
- May 01, 2018
WILD imagination, friendship, fun and lots of enthusiastic song and dance make The 78-Storey Treehouse all about childhood and its love of wonder.
Even for those not yet familiar with Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton’s popular kids’ book series, this stage adaptation by Richard Tulloch is entertaining and engaging.
Samuel Welsh as Andy and Teale Howie as Terry along with Tim Carroll and Freya Pragt, deliver effortlessly this tale of friendships nearly lost in the pursuit of stardom at the hands of Hollywood director Mr BigShot.
The combining machine, a scribbletorium, a high-security potato chip storage facility guarded by an angry duck, spying cows, a gibbon and Andyland all make an appearance through the
one-hour show.
But it’s the detailed stage setups and props that make this a real spectacle for its mostly young and young-at-heart audience.
The epic space fight towards the end is unmissable with its extraordinary space suits, sound effects and a black hole to boot. It’s entertainment guaranteed.
